Pollinate the West (Overview)

8 November 2020 - 15 November 2020

Free
POW is taking seed/ling swapping to the streets. All residents in Melbourne’s West are invited to participate. You can fill out this short survey to join in: https://bit.ly/3mSNYrh.
You can sign up for one or more of the following roles:
  • DONOR, as a donor of seeds or seedlings.
  • HIVE, by offering your home or other place as a drop-off site to coordinate distribution.
  • POLLINATOR, by joining a small group of cyclists to help deliver the seeds and seedlings to your neighbors.
  • GROWER, by expressing interest as a grower who’d like to get their gloves on some seeds/seedlings.
This event is staggered over two weekends: seed and seedling donations are taking place on 8 November, with pollinating cyclists hitting the rode on 15 November. Event pages have been set up on our Facebook page:
Note: registration is via the bit.ly link above, not facebook. All participants who register will be contacted by email to confirm details.
Note that this event is based in Melbourne’s inner west* and is free. Our success depends on the generosity and participation of POW members and volunteers in our wider community. Wee thank you all in advance!
If other permaculture or gardening groups are interested in holding similar events, we’d be more than happy to share our learnings. You can get in touch via email.
COVID-Safe guidelines will apply to limit the size of cycling groups, and to ensure contact-less exchanges.
Excess seeds will be dispersed to local seed libraries/exchanges and non-profit organisations.
*MELBOURNE’S INNER WEST includes suburbs located in the following council areas: Maribyrnong, Hobsons Bay, Moonee Valley, Brimbank and Wyndham.
