Living Museum West is launching the Triennial Arts Program with its eight member

Artist Run Initiatives under the banner of Memorybyrnong Artist Republic, this Sunday, 21 March 2010 from 2.00pm till late.

Pipemakers Park Maribyrnong will be enlivened from 2.00pm in the afternoon into the evening with works produced on site under the theme of sustainability.

“The Republic Project presents ‘now’ works by cultural practices on the technological traditions, the people and places and natural and cultural heritage environments in Melbourne’s West”, said Dr Srebrenka Kunek, Creative Director.

Future Arts Research are launching Tequinox as part of their quarterly artist gathering with installations made from discarded materials represented as sculptural works, metal represented as human form and sonic sound installations wrapped in wool.

Maribyrnong River Edge Art Movement present The River – visual art works which comment on the Maribyrnong River through mixed media and painterly works.

Mutoid Waste Company Robin Cook’s giant works of technical and pyrotechnical vavoom – is Artist in Residence assembling the Earth Dream Container 2000-2012.

Permacouture with the motto “recycle, rejuvenate and reinvent” through food and fashion presents works pieced together from discarded materials and food from public places.

Airgineering is about, “incorporating bio-structural design principles within air filled creatures”, said Felipe Reynolds who works with Ed Boyle to present his forms with human movement.

The T7Project focuses on a Men’s Shed and the industrial heritage of the site. David Wakefield aims to reintroduce local people to the construction of garden sculpture and machinery conservation work at the Park.

Spill Collective Ella Harvey, Alison Wiltshire and Chloe Boreham are producing physical theatre pieces on the site commenting of the built and natural landscape.

“It’s Melbourne’s one and only sustainable recording studio”, says Marc Peckham aka Monkeymarc – Monkeymarc Solar Sound Studio is presenting works produced in the solar and wind powered self made premises. Beat Brokers -djs – Matt and Hannah, who are also working on Birthing Woman, are also joining the LMW team.

Chainsaw Chix have a presence as Angie Polglaze plans for Artistree 2011 where she has invited chainsaw artists from a number of countries to join her to produce works of timber art at LMW Pipemakers Park.

Pump House Theatre in association with Anne Harris filmmaker and with VU are producing site specific works. Films West with Lunabella, Marko and Karol are gathering local moving and still image buffs to join their group. Reverse Rubbidge and Schomozzle are in the process of starting children’s puppetry workshops making puppets from recycled useful rubbish. And, much, much more.
