Three free workshops at the upcoming Moonee Valley Festival courtesy of Moonee Valley and Hobsons Bay City Council’s My Smart Garden program.

When:
Sunday 24 February

Where:
At the Sustainability Hub (behind the Moonee Valley Bowling Club)
Queens Park, Moonee Ponds

11am–11.40am: Low-cost veggie gardening for beginners
Keen to grow veggies this year but not sure how to get started? Come learn the basics from setting up new garden beds, improving your soil organically and choosing easy to grow plants for first-timers.

1.30-2.10pm: Perennial food plants
Instead of needing to sow and harvest vegetables every year, we’ll introduce you to food plants that will give you a crop year after year saving you a lot of work. Perennial plants often have multiple uses making them highly useful in permaculture food gardens.

10am–4pm: Plant and seed swap and giveaways
Bring a friend to sign up to My Smart Garden and receive a free bag of gardening goodies each. Bring your food plants, cuttings, herbs, home grown produce, seedlings or seeds to our stall to swap. If you don’t have any, drop by anyway – you won’t go home empty handed!

FREE mini workshops. You don’t need to register, just drop by during the festival.
